planet is a small mobile app for sharing what you are doing with the ~25 close friends and family in your life. it is operated as a personal project by a sole proprietor in the United States — not a company, not a paid service, and not a public platform anyone can sign up for.

what planet is

planet is an invite-only iOS and android app for posting events to a small private friend list. every event has a place, a time, and an invitee list — friends rsvp, chat in the event thread, and (optionally) share docs the host attaches.

there is no public feed, no discovery, no follower graph, no advertising, and no in-app purchase. an account exists only because an existing friend added your phone number to their invite list.

the app is in private beta and is distributed through apple testflight and google play internal testing. there is no public app-store listing yet.

who runs it

planet is operated by Jacob Irvine, sole proprietor, based in the United States.

there is no company behind it — it is a hobby project built and maintained by one person. that means support is on a best-effort basis (typical response within 48 hours), and major changes are announced inside the app.

who it is for

planet is for small, real friend groups — typically under 30 people who already know each other in person. it is not designed for, marketed to, or available to the general public.

access is by invitation only. you cannot sign up unless an existing user has added your phone number to their friend list and invited you to an event.

how sms is used

planet sends two kinds of SMS, both triggered by a specific user action: a sign-in magic link when you tap "send magic link" in the app, and a one-time event invite when a friend invites your phone number to an event.

we do not send marketing or recurring messages. typical volume is fewer than five SMS per user per month. reply STOP to opt out, reply HELP for support contact information. message and data rates may apply.

the full SMS consent flow — message types, frequency, opt-in, opt-out, help — is documented on /sms-consent.
